Which AC control relocation bracket do I need for my E46 without OEM navigation?
BMW E46s without OEM navigation require an HVAC relocation bracket in order to properly mount the double-din Dynavin unit. There are two types that you'll find in E46s: single row and individual row.
Look at your car's buttons. If there are NO seams between the buttons and they are all housed in the same button housing, you need the single row relocation bracket as pictured below. The number of buttons is irrelevant but what is crucial is whether there are vertical seams between them or not. This is the more common version. All E46 M3s are single row.
Single Row Button-Style (no seams or lines around/between the lowest row of buttons)
If there ARE seams between the buttons (as pictured below) or you have one button with a "blank" filling in the rest of the area, you need an individual row relocation bracket as pictured below. The number of buttons is irrelevant but what is crucial is whether there are vertical seams between them or not. This version is much less common than the single row.
Individual Row Button-Style (seams or lines around/between lowest row of buttons)
